Steady Progress - Backwards! #RememberBen

timPby timPFeb 6th 2018
It's approaching a year since I wrote the last blog full of expectation for an exciting year ahead. Sadly it didn't quite turn out like that after two nasty chest infections in March and April knocked the wind (literally) out of Debbie and we decided to call a halt to the season in late May.

On a positive note we both live to fight another day and following numerous trips to consultants and a battery of tests Debbie's breathing now seems to be back under control. A generous cancellation policy from Rat Race events and a prudent decision to take the cancellation insurance for Challenge Almere meant that we weren't too out of pocket either.

For 2018 we have learned our lesson and we are going to be much more flexible on the races that we attempt, so our only firm plans are to complete the Wall ultra marathon and go back to Challenge Almere. Everything else will be a last minute decision and if there are places, great, if not then we will try another event. Our only goals this year are to rebuild our fitness and to have fun so no point in piling on the pressure by having a packed race program.

So for this year I'm still planning to write about our adventures but it will be reports of events we have completed rather than looking forward to events yet to come.

I hope you are all fighting fit and raring to get stuck into the new season, I wish you the best of luck and maybe we'll bump into you at a race sometime soon.
A few images from the year
